
许福吉博士简介
许福吉博士,现任南洋理工大学孔子学院院长,南洋理工大学孔子学院学术委员会副主席与理事、国际应用文学会副会长、新加坡作家协会副主席,推广华语理事会理事、《东亚现代中文文学国际学报》编委、新加坡人民协会语言咨询,国家艺术理事会文学咨询、更生美术研究会名誉会长、新加坡推广华文理事会理事、锡山文艺中心学术主任等。
曾获得新加坡政府海外奖学金、陈嘉庚高级学位奖学金与南大高级学位奖学金,先后考获国立台湾大学文学士、南洋理工大学教育硕士、文学硕士和哲学博士学位。从事中华文学、文化与语言教学20多年,2008年代表南洋理工大学出席在韩国延世大学主办的亚太平洋教育领袖会议,发表专题演讲“全球孔子学院的建设与发展”、2008年6月受邀出席日本北海道札幌大学孔子学院一周年专题主讲人、2008年8月出席文莱“和谐心论坛”专题主讲人;2006年接受中国中央电视台“新闻会客厅”栏目专访:“ 孔子学院海外开张“;2006年获南洋理工大学国立教育学院卓越教学奖。
曾担任多项国际研讨会的筹委会主席、秘书长等工作,出版著作十余部:《孔子论语精华》(2007)、 《与中华文化同行》(2007)、 《汉语教学与汉语拼音正词法》( 2005 )、 《新加坡微型小说评论》( 2005 ) 、《当代文学与人文生态》(2004 )、《义法与经世》( 2002)《热带雨林自然文学:国际环境文学研讨会论文集》(2003)、《初院华文》(1997)《文学创作与欣赏》(1990) 等。单行本散文创作:《推开隔离门》(2004 )《试上高峰》(2001)、 《雨过声喧》(1997)、《心情叠在青青的日记》(1986)等。诗集:《绿叶开窗》(2000)《尘虑静看》(1996)等,曾获得新加坡全国青年文学奖、新加坡金狮奖、新加坡全国宗乡散文创作奖、2001年国际中文电脑国际研讨会最佳论文奖、新加坡战备军官协会论文奖、新加坡教师征文奖等。

Dr Koh Hock Kiat
Dr Koh Hock Kiat currently serves as an Associate Professor, Asia Language and Culture Academic Group, National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University. He also assumes appointments as Director of Confucius Institute, NTU, Vice President of Singapore Association of Writers, Deputy Chairman of Confucius Institute, NTU Academic Board and Member of The International Journal of Study on Modern Chinese Literature in East Asia. Dr Koh was pursuing his Bachelor degree under the Singapore Government Scholarship Program to study Chinese in National Taiwan University(1986)and obtained his Master’s degree of Education (1993), Master’s degree of Arts (1995)and Philosophy of Doctor (1998) from the Nanyang Technological University.
Dr Koh has been actively engaged in promoting Chinese literacy and cultural appreciation in Singapore and the region. In view of his contribution, Dr Koh was invited to serve in the Arts Resource Panel instituted by the National Arts Council and Peoples Association. Dr Koh Hock Kiat is also an outstanding writer and researcher in Chinese language and Literature
Dr Koh Hock Kiat has made many significant contributions to Singapore Chinese Literature scene. His achievements are remarkable and impressive. His scholastic attainment can be seen from his books The Journey of Chinese Arts and Culture (2007); Singapore Mini-Fiction Literary Criticism ( 2005) ; Breath in the City: Shanghai and Singapore Literature( 2003) ; Singapore Chinese Writer Bibliography( 2005) ; Singapore Chinese Prose in Humanistic Concern; Singapore Poetry in English and Chinese: A Comparison between Simon Tay and Chia Hwee Pheng ( 2005) ; The Singapore Chinese Prose and Its Metropolitan Culture Identity (2007) .
Being a Singaporean writer and researcher, he has an in-depth understanding of Singapore Society’s social changes which characterizes in his uniqueness in topic selection. His paper has its originality, strong theoretical reference and comparisons bringing out the uniqueness of Singapore Chinese and English literature and their differences. This opens up new avenues for further studies and research in this field.
Dr Koh Hock Kiat has also left his mark and has made special contributions to Chinese literature in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South East Asia which can be seen from his papers: Dynamic and Diversifies: Literary Criticism on Hong Kong Scholars` Prose; A Comparative Study of the Prose of Taiwan and Hong Kong Scholar; Literary Criticism on William Marr Short Poem and Prose of Taiwan University Professor.
Dr Koh Hock Kiat has over 20 years of teaching experiences in Chinese language. Among his publications are: Aspect of Chinese Language Teaching and Orthography in Hanyu Pinyin; Tools for Creative Writing, Chinese Textbook for Junior Colleges, Language Elective Program; Literature Teaching and Creative Thinking. Dr Koh was awarded the Best Paper Award by the Chinese and Oriental Languages information Processing Society during the International Conference on Chinese Computing 2001. Dr Koh has been actively engaged in promoting Chinese language teaching and learning in Singapore and the region. He continuously strives to improve his teaching skills, serves as a model to inspire the students and to ignite their passion in teaching. For his efforts, Dr Koh was awarded the Excellence in Teaching Commendation Medal 2006 in recognition of his outstanding teaching abilities.
Ever since Dr Koh assumes the position of Director of Confucius Institute, NTU, he has fully demonstrated his capabilities in managing the organization and innovativeness in the course development. Dr Koh is conscientious in his work and has made many achievements.
